Dr. Brie Kohrt - Director, Instructor and SupervisorDr. Brieanne (Brie) Kohrt is a Clinical Psychologist and an Assistant Professor at California State University, Los Angeles. Brie earned her PhD in 2013 from The Catholic University of America. She completed her internship at The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, and postdoctoral fellowship at Emory University. Brie's interests revolve around global mental health, efficacious methods for delivering mental health services in low-resource settings, culturally adapted and trauma-informed interventions and the identification and treatment of perinatal depression. She is passionate about increasing the quality of training for mental health professionals who will provide services in Spanish. She has worked with Latinx communities across the United States, and has worked internationally in Guatemala and Peru. She is the mental health coordinator for the Trifinio Center for Global Health in Coatepeque, Guatemala in collaboration with the Center for Global Health at University of Colorado, Anschutz

Dr. David Martinez - Co-Director, Instructor and Supervisor

Dr. David A Martinez is a Clinical Psychologist and an Assistant Professor at the University of San Francisco in the Clinical Psychology PsyD program. Dr. Martinez completed his PhD in Clinical Health Psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Martinez's interests are on development and testing of community-based HIV prevention interventions among under-served populations, specifically Spanish-speaking Latinos. He also has interest and experience in substance use, coping, stigma, quality of life issues, and medication adherence among individuals with HIV and other chornic health conditions. He participated in the PASEO program in 2016 and began teaching and supervising with PASEO in 2017. He also assists with applicant interviews as well as program evaluation.

Lourdes Cabel Salinas - Instructor, Site Supervisor

Lourdes Salinas (Lou) is a licensed clinical psychologist from Trujillo, Peru who teaches the Psychology in Peru series for PASEO. In addition to providing clinical services in the region, Lourdes is also the director of an NGO called Sayariy-Resurgiendo, one of the partner projects where students can complete a practicum. Lourdes is an advocate for social justice and gender equality, and is an active member of organizations in Trujillo area dedicated to these causes.
